We’ve all become slaves to content. Admit it. Not a day goes by without you craving for that half hour break on the couch watching an endless row of ASMR soap videos. Or kitten videos. Or seafood foraging videos.

At one point it doesn’t even matter what content it is – you consume whatever content you’re served. That’s internet consumerism for ya.

And with that, we’ve confined ourselves to the dark and mysterious hole of algorithms. We don’t choose anymore – simple mathematics and science will do it for you. It’s only a matter of time before we can all sit back in our chairs, press play, only to dissolve in a sea of streaming videos and awe-inspiring visuals all day errr day. The grim and dystopian future of Wall-E seemed so far away ten years ago, but we’ve come a long way from then. Or in fact, we’ve regressed in a way no time in history ever has.

As a content creator, I should be thankful for the internet consumption generation. The content thirst of the masses creates an array of extensive opportunities for those who busy themselves with producing content. Even more so when advertisers back projects with endless budgets to further their commercial goals.

But inspiring through visuals is only inspiring to a certain extent. We can convey the many beauties of the world in our work. But the only lasting inspiration, is the power of a good story. The story of long journeys. Of hardships and failures. Of losing and finding.

Of balance. Of love. And life.

The kind of story that makes you not want to stay and consume life online. But the ones that make you leap up and go out – in search for your life offline.
