When we moved to Amsterdam Zuidas four years ago, there was barely anything around. There were a couple of restaurants and cafes but that was about it. Much has changed since then. I miss the amazing lunches at Bolenius, the Illy coffee I used to get every morning on my way to work, the 2-1 weekend deals at Wagamama, the oysters at Koetjes & Kalfjes, the sandwiches anywhere in the neighborhood (Casto di Gusto, whaddap!). And just when we decided to move out of our apartment, a new hair salon opened at the end of the street. If the salon had come sooner, I would have surely frequented the place. Imagine getting a quick touch up in the morning before arriving in The Hague every morning. Or a blow dry session just before heading out to dinner in the city.
I found myself back in Amsterdam Zuidas again two weeks ago. I shot some photos of the interior of Cosmo Hairstyling Zuidas and had fun with the team shooting a variety of make up looks from the new beauty treatment they offer at the salon. From a gorgeous light grey and pink-toned look to a dark and rich smokey eye and red lips, we tried different looks that fit every woman in need of a fixer-upper. From hair to make up,.. if this place had a giant closet space as well where you could change into any outfit you liked, I probably would have made it my new home.
I ended up leaving the salon with a fresh trim and a lovely fishtail braid. I tried doing a fishtail braid on myself the next morning. But I guess I better stick to photography and leave anything hair-related to the hands of professionals instead.
