Cosmo Hairstyling Zuidas

When we moved to Amsterdam Zuidas four years ago, there was barely anything around. There were a couple of restaurants and cafes but that was about it. Much has changed since then. I miss the amazing lunches at Bolenius, the Illy coffee I used to get every morning on my way to work, the 2-1 weekend deals at Wagamama, the oysters at Koetjes & Kalfjes, the sandwiches anywhere in the neighborhood (Casto di Gusto, whaddap!). And just when we decided to move out of our apartment, a new hair salon opened at the end of the street. If the salon had come sooner, I would have surely frequented the place. Imagine getting a quick touch up in the morning before arriving in The Hague every morning. Or a blow dry session just before heading out to dinner in the city.

I found myself back in Amsterdam Zuidas again two weeks ago. I shot some photos of the interior of Cosmo Hairstyling Zuidas and had fun with the team shooting a variety of make up looks from the new beauty treatment they offer at the salon. From a gorgeous light grey and pink-toned look to a dark and rich smokey eye and red lips, we tried different looks that fit every woman in need of a fixer-upper. From hair to make up,.. if this place had a giant closet space as well where you could change into any outfit you liked, I probably would have made it my new home.

I ended up leaving the salon with a fresh trim and a lovely fishtail braid. I tried doing a fishtail braid on myself the next morning. But I guess I better stick to photography and leave anything hair-related to the hands of professionals instead.

    • Thanks 🙂
Ah nice! What will you be up to in Amsterdam? Let me know if you want any tips on where to go!

      • Other than the beautiful canals, I’m planning to make a visit to Zaanse Schans and Utretcht. Any other recommendations? Would also love to get your opinions on places that serves good coffee 🙂

Wonder if you could email me instead? vivienekok@hotmail.com

        Thank you!

  • that looks like an amazing hair salon. Wish I lived in your area so I could check it out. In need of a hair stylist right now for a wedding I’m attending 🙁

I love fish tail braids, I can kinda do it myself, but it’s such an arm workout to hold my arms up, and I’m so slow it takes me like half an hour to braid my hair LOL!

    • It is a great salon and they have a great team as well (which I also think is important!). I’m sad I don’t live there anymore haha!
I know what you mean. I gave up after a couple of minutes. It’s just not as beautiful as when it’s done by someone else!
      Thanks for stopping by Lily!

  • Fantastic photos! Beautiful hair and makeup styles as well!

    • Thanks Zarrah! I’m still attempting to do that braid but it’s just not as beautiful as when they did it at Cosmo 🙁

  • Phew… so I’m not the only one who struggles with a fishtail braid?! What a relief, Igrien! Even a YouTube video couldn’t help… haha! Beautiful ladies – beautiful makeup.

    • Haha yeah, those YT videos always make it look easy! Damn you YT beauty vloggers!

  • Lovely photos and I, too, would be so happy to be able to do a fishtail braid myself. Alas! It looks really pretty on you! Ooohh, 2 for 1 at Wagamama are the best!!

    • Thanks!
I’ll take anything with a 2 for 1 deal! 😀 When we go grocery shopping I tend to go for these deals. The only downfall is that you usually only need one of a product so you end up throwing the second 🙁

      • High five! Yes, for instance the Albert Heijn “Hamsterweken” are rather disastrous for me, because I feel like I need to hoard and end up forgetting what’s in our stock. Only remembering these items when the expiration date has long passed 🙁

  • Gorgeous photos, and I love the fishtail braid!

    • Thanks Valerie! I’m still trying to do one myself but it just doesn’t look as beautiful 🙁
