When I first came to London, one of the things on my to-do list was to do a proper English afternoon tea. There are loads of places where you can enjoy a good afternoon tea in London. But somewhere on a late Thursday afternoon in October, I found myself wandering the halls of the Conrad. From the entrance, you could already see the beautifully lit Emmeline’s Lounge. Hues of blues and
purple filled the room. The place was decorated in a stunning Winter Wonderland theme, which went perfect with Conrad’s new Snow Queen Afternoon Tea. From London cured smoked salmon blini with caviar and lemon crème fraîche, to prawn cocktails and salted butter shortbread with yogurt cream, frosted blueberries and sugar shards, we were treated to a delicious
(and gorgeous, mind you) selection of savories and pastries. We continue with a chocolate and pearl sponge, praline ganache dipped in chocolate, a blackcurrant and cardamom cake with crushed glittering merengue and some more and end with, naturally, scones served with Devonshire clotted cream and strawberry jam. Never mind that I had a diet to watch – I finished all (and some more).
And by the way, to all my US readers out there – happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy the holidays! Afternoon Tea London
