Amsterdam Bound 1

Amsterdam Zuidas

Amsterdam Zuidas

I’ve been back to Amsterdam so many times in the two months I’ve been living here that it almost feels like I have never really left the place. If I didn’t know any better I’d say my little hometown is too hard for me to ever let go. Which holds some truth to it I must admit, even if only marginally. The last time I was in Amsterdam I had the pleasure of shooting at Amsterdam’s INK Hotel, Hosokawa, Tunes Bar (which will be up this week) GIN Neo Bistro & Wines

I somehow, miraculously, managed to cram all of it into three short days in Amsterdam. I promised myself to schedule in some time for actual breathing the next time I’d be in Amsterdam. A promise I of course, stubbornly, had to break when I planned this week’s trip. I don’t know how I’ll manage this time and god knows all the eating won’t help my wish to lose weight before my 30th birthday (which will come sooner than I’d want and

by the way – wishful thinking does not help you lose weight – at all). But with lots of coffee (how else is anyone ever able to meet any deadline) and positive thinking (which actually does get you somewhere), I’m sure the week will be over before I know it. I’ll be back in London again, sipping my English tea from my English tea cup, pinky finger pointed up and all. Because that’s how the Brits do it. I think.

I went out in the morning for this shot, half-regretting my choice for bare arms and ultra thin fabrics. It was windy, cold and within ten minutes after the shoot it started pouring (lucky us). On most photos you’ll see me holding my arms for warmth while trying to put on a smile for the camera. There’s one frame where you see me chasing after my hat that got blown off by the wind – charming sight I’m telling you.

The things we do for a good shot. I can’t say I’m looking forward to doing the winter shots in London. It’ll prove to be challenging I’m sure.

  • I just got back from Amsterdam last week, and I love it so much! i totally get why you can never leave this city behind, its amazing 🙂 great photo as always Igrien!

    • I got back 2 weeks ago and is missing it like crazy too 🙂

  • Great pictures, love the simplicity but chicness of the black!

  • Anu

You don’t look like you are cold at all. I would be shaking haha. I love the bag. I have been wanting to get one similar, but just can’t find one that is well made and cheap, which is impossible and probably why I still dont have one.

    • I’m glad it doesn’t look like I’m freezing haha! This bag is a little pricier but the quality is like no other. I definitely recommend it!
      Thanks for stopping by Anu!

  • Trang Do

You looks so gorgeous in this black dress! Great pictures!!
    Love from {a lifestyle, fashion, beauty, and food blog}

  • Nice outfit! You look gorgeous ♥♥

  • Fab photos as usual, Igrien, the black ‘n white shot being my absolute fave (sooo stylish). You look so sleek and chic in your all-black outfit with the vibrant pops of red 🙂

P.S. So cool that you watched The Wire as well, after Breaking Bad it’s my fave series ever ♥ . I still need to watch The Sopranos, would you believe I’ve never seen an episode?! Dexter was great until it reached the sixth season (the first and fourth being the best), after that it was downhill. I really like to pretend the ending never happened (a lumberjack? for realz, that’s the best they could do?!).

    • Thanks so much Izzy <3
I agree about Dexter – how lame was that ending? That ending is actually why I don't recommend anymore to people who haven't seen it. I thought it spoiled the previous seasons and was so off (I feel the same about Lost – loved the beginning – hated how they tried to tied up the story at the end).
The Wire and BB though – I bow to the creators! :p

  • Mallory Everhart

You look fantastic..not cold at all! 🙂 I love this outfit so much!

    Perhaps Bananas

    • Thanks so much Mallory! Haha, I’m glad I don’t look like I’m freezing my ass off in the photos! Thanks for stopping by Mallory and have a great weekend!

  • #thethingswedoforagoodshot

I’ve squated with one thigh up, bent my waist downwards, tilted my head up just because of the angle, ‘clamped’ a bag of groceries under the left armpit and plastic water bottle between 2 fingers and mouth wide open. Phew~ Stay warm in London Igrien <3

Wow!! Would love to know if you like my blog too!! Would be an honor :).

    • Hi Sophie, I will stop by later today! Thanks for stopping by here 😉

  • Haha I’ve had to chase my hat down the street before too. It happens. You look great anyways.

    • Haha, I guess it happens to all fashion bloggers at some point 😉 Thanks for stopping by Monika! <3

  • Haha, lucky you guys! 😉 The result is fantastic and I love how you edit the photos here, Igrien! You look elegant, graceful yet cool – so no reasons to loose weight at all, my dear! Just a tip which works for me… a bit ahaha: Vitamin C or lemon water before breakfast. Great way to stay healthy this winter as well! Apart from that I hope you’re doing well, lovely?!

    xoxo Ira

    • Thanks Ira! I worked on the layout for hours, wanted to try out something new. I’m glad you liked it!
That is a great tip. My grandmother used to tell us to drink anything with lemon to lose weight. I’ll definitely give this a go! With all the holidays coming.. I’m so not looking forward to welcoming holiday weight 🙁
Thanks for stopping by Ira and enjoy your day today! <3

      • Oh my! You sound totally lik me, Igrien!! Haha! It might not look like that but it takes me sometimes hours to work on some posts as well. I’m such a perfectionist sometimes, sitting till midnight to have everything at the right place. 🙂 Couldn’t agree more with your grandmother!! 😉
Me too! Just told recently my husband about that… LOL There gonna be definitely too much food this Xmas – again! Haha!
Enjoy this (rainy) Friday evening, dear! <3

        xoxo Ira

  • Lysa Ibit

haha!! I was supposed to do a shoot last week too but it was pouring rain when we got to the location! Ohhhhhh especially here in RAINcouver (Vancouver), it rains a lot here! 🙁 It’s always a challenge to do shoots outdoor. You’re still lucky! 🙂 Anyway, you don’t seem cold in the picture 😉 you did a great job love! <3

    • Ah man that sucks! I hate it when it rains during shoots! I haven’t been shooting in London that much since I’ve been here because it has been raining a lot (that’s London for ya). We’ll see how that goes soon :p (so not looking forward to it though).

Thanks and thank you for stopping by Lysa! Hope you have a great day! <3

    Wow! You look great!
