When you think of Balenciaga, you think of shapes and out of the ordinary forms.
Last month we visited the Balenciaga exhibition at the Victoria & Albert Museum. As expected, there was a line of fashionistas waiting to enter the realm of Cristóbal Balenciaga. Cristóbal Balenziaga was regarded by Christian Dior as “the master of us all” and even Coco Chanel spoke highly of the fashion designer, calling him “the only couturier in the truest sense of the word”.
What makes Cristóbal Balenciaga one of the most renowned couturiers in the world is his ability to see through conventional forms. With his innovative balloon dresses to wavy gowns and his extraordinary attention to detail, Balenciaga is a fashion icon who continues to inspire designers even now.
The exhibition in London showcases some of Balenciaga’s iconic works, a documentary about the fashion designer’s life and a look into the craftsmanship that go into Balenciaga dresses.
The exhibition is on now until 18 February 2018 at the Victoria & Albert Museum (purchase tickets in advance here). If you can’t wait, here’s a sneak peek!
