Barnini Antwerp

We don’t have decent bagels here in the Netherlands. We did jump on the bandwagon when the muffin, cupcake and macaron craze started back in 2011. Macaron or cupcake shops opened up everywhere in the Netherlands. But bagels, I guess we totally missed the boat with bagels. Which is a shame because what is there not to love about bagels?! Perfect doughy poppy-seed bagel bread, check; delicious cream cheese, check; delicious smoked salmon, CHECK! We hit the road all the way to Antwerp to get a taste of these tasty buns (just saying, someone open a shop in Amsterdam asap please). I was battling a severe muscle sore this weekend after our annual company out-of-town trip. My body was sore in places I didn’t know I had muscles. Needless to say, I was craving for something badly and that something happened to be bagels. And apparently, Antwerp’s Barnini cafe was the place to be for bagels. Although the menu doesn’t show a lot of variety, it was enough for us to go back and forth between a few. In the end we went with the ‘Deli’ (pastrami, parmesan cheese, rocket salad, cream cheese and pesto) and ‘Pink B’ (smoked salmon, dille, cream cheese, red onions, lettuce). And you guys, it was that good.
