I don’t know about you guys but boy have I been enjoying the summer weather in the Netherlands lately! I’m sure it’ll disappear soon and we’ll all be back in our winter clothes in no time, but for now, it has been rather good. And I’m savoring these summer moments.
To prepare for beach weather (which at one point will stay, mark my words), here’s some of of my beach beauty picks!
First off, I’ve switched to my summer fragrances. In the summer I tend to wear lighter scents. My Lancôme La Vie est Belle remains my every-day perfume but I’m switching it up frequently with Maison Margiela Replica’s Promenade in the gardens, or lately, a much lighter and fresher scent, s’Oliver’s Feels like summer (which reminds me of the beach).
Bringing us to bronzers! I’m not the best person to talk to when it comes to tanning and using bronzers. My skin is much to light to be able to use a decent bronzer. That is, until I discovered the Giorgio Armani Maestro bronzer. This is the first bronzer I’ve used that really complements my own skin tone as well as bring an extra golden glow to my skin. If you’re afraid of bronzers being too dark for your skin, simply mix a few drops with your foundation and try that out first! Or you can always use a powdered bronzer, like the YSL Solar bronzing Stones.
For my eyes I like to keep things simple in the summer. And especially when you’re on the beach, I feel like the key elements to the ultimate beach look are messy hair and a bronzed skin. But to put a little color on the lids, I am loving the Chanel Natural glow eyeshadow palette from the Les Beiges collection. This palette is a stand-alone stunner that will keep you satisfied all summer. The hues are beautiful beige neutrals and a shimmery nude that just pops on your lids.
In the summer I like to keep things as simple as I can on the lips. As long as it’s colorful. The Estée Lauder Pure color lipsticks are like summer candy. There’s a great variety of mattes, creamy formulas, shimmers and even pearls, so there’s enough to choose from. I like to pop on a bright red or pink and go over with a gloss for a shiny finish. For every-day wear my current pick is the Chanel Rouge coco stylo (which is an essential item in my bag!).
To finish off your beach look, go with a fun and bright color. I am bringing back my pinks and corals from my stash. Currently on my nails is Chanel’s Coquillage – a beautiful shimmery coral.
Not really essential to create a beach look but definitely an important step you cannot miss. When you go to the beach, don’t forget to bring suncare. Biotherm recently came out with the new Waterlover sun milk (SPF 30). It’s a sun milk that is supposed to protect even when/after you’ve been in the water.
Alright, enjoy the summer weather girls!
