Renovating is a pain in the arse. Who ever said renovating is fun, is either delirious or has way too much time on their hands. Having a handy-man boyfriend does help but only when it comes to one-man jobs. And unfortunately the majority of what needs to be done in a house is made for a team, preferably a soccer team. I hear Amsterdam’s AFC Ajax lost a match this afternoon – hey, we’re looking to hire.
All this renovating makes me miss our time in Hong Kong. If there’s one thing I wouldn’t mind doing all my life (at least, that’s what I’m saying now), it’s travelling. I know some people who loathe travelling. They’d rather have a stay cation in their hometown than enjoy the sunset on the beach in Bali. How this is possible is beyond me but to each their own I guess. I mean, I’m writing this while eating peanut butter straight from the jar (I haven’t had dinner yet – leave me be!).
Down by the Victoria Harbour… Awfully touristy but the view of Hong Kong Island is second to none.
The truth is, travelling can be easy as long as you pack light. As a photographer, one of my essentials that goes into every bag of mine, wherever I go, is a camera. A camera doesn’t have to be a DSLR – it can go as small as a GoPro camera or the camera on my smartphone (as long as it does the job – shoot). A passport also comes in handy when you’re travelling. My cards and cash are kept in possibly the tiniest wallet you can find (I don’t like bulky wallets). And then there’s the unmissable red lipstick – your license to kill.
All of it should fit in a bag that is lightweight, sturdy, made from fine leathers and preferably in elegant tints that elevate your style. A girl has to stay chic, right?
