Flying Cathay Pacific Business Class

November 2018

At the end of August, K and I prepared ourselves for our wedding. We flew from Amsterdam to Bali in Cathay Pacific Business Class. Which was a journey on its own.

First of all, flying Business Class is a luxury. It’s a transformative way of traveling. A new way of getting from one destination to another. I can’t remember the last time we had this much energy saved on a long-haul flight before. There’s off course the fully 180 degrees reclinable seats, the cozy blankets and soft pillows. It felt like a home in the skies.

Second, I can’t remember the last time I got this much work done on a flight! I wrote pages of copy, edited photos and finally sat down to strategise on my business for the 2018 year-end. It was extra time that I got back in a mere flight.

A mere flight it wasn’t, by the way. Because third, it was traveling in ultimate luxury. From the on-board culinary delights, to champagne, cocktails and the most satisfying Hong Kong milk teas. And the little amenities kit with travel-sized Jurlique products. It was just perfect.

It got me thinking about the art of travel. As thirty-somethings, we’ve grown accustomed to a certain way of living. We appreciate the good things in life. Fine dining is a passion and we live on jet-set thrills. Add in comfort and ease with that and you get a cocktail that no thirty-something can say no to.

In the end, thirty-something or not, all we’re looking for is time. The extra time to work on an edit. To finalise a concept you’ve been working on all season.

And to prepare for a journey of a lifetime. An unforgettable one.
