There are no excuses for the amount of food I have consumed in these past three weeks. And it isn’t holiday season yet. This weekend we took a bootcamp class with our friends. It was a low intensity class, which turned out to be too much intensity for me already. I have been walking around with sore muscles all weekend. It’s a pain to sit down and a pain to get up. I have decided that the only way I can survive this, is to just lie down flat, preferably on the bed. And if someone can install a flat screen on the ceiling and have pizzas and honeybush tea delivered to my bed, well that would just be perfect.
In case you hadn’t noticed, we hit up the Foodhallen again last weekend. One of the first things we ordered was a batch of these delicious savoury chorizo ‘bitterballen’. They’re expensive but boy were they good! Don’t forget to order a beer (or in my case, wine) to go with these!
Now this is something you have to try at Foodhallen: Caulils (in)famous grilled cheese sandwich. This is your perfect comfort food. The typical food you want to have waiting for you in the morning when you have a hangover. With different types of cheese, melted into a perfectly golden grilled sandwich, with some onions and greens in between, this was good! Just try not to think about the calories you’re consuming eating this.
Oh yeah, come to mama! I’m a sucker for burgers so I couldn’t pass on this one now could I? The Angus beef was served a gorgeous medium-rare. It was juicy, the buns could have had an extra bite, but everything that came with the burger was good.
The Rough Kitchen
Pork isn’t my favourite protein but serve me a dish of good pulled pork and I bow to you. The Rough Kitchen is where you want to eat when you are with a group of friends and you are dying to feast on lots of meat. We took a platter of pulled pork, ham, pork chops, pork pate, pickles, greens and bread.
That’s it for my Foodhallen posts for now. Read my other Foodhallen posts here and here. There are still some shops I haven’t tried yet but I’ll save that for other posts. So, which ones have you tried so far or do you still want to try?
