It’s almost four in the morning and it’s the third day in a row I am unable to fall asleep. I thought exhausting myself all day with chores would do the trick, but alas, here I am, wide awake with a cup of tea watching Orange Is The New Black, waiting for dawn. Apparently that is when my body feels like resting now, during day time. Nighttime is better spent catching up on all the shows I have missed and blogs I have yet to read. The randomness of it all brings a sense of freedom, which is a relief, but it is messing up my work rhythm. If only we didn’t need any sleep. We could spend the entire 24h doing everything we wanted. We wouldn’t run out of time, we would be running with time.
I apologise beforehand for my three-week hiatus. If you follow me on Instagram, Snapchat or Facebook, you’ll know that I have spent these last few weeks cruising the US West Coast. My homecoming last Friday was bittersweet. Bitter, because it has been nothing short of amazing and the last days were spent with this shadow cast over us. Sweet because our recent travels have given me new perspectives. That and, it’s been good to come home to my own bed and comfy couch again.
One thing I couldn’t let go unnoticed: the blog passed its 2nd anniversary a couple of weeks ago (yay!). I want to thank all of you for your support, for reading, for commenting, for interacting with me on my social media channels. For being just your awesome selves! Unlike most bloggers, I didn’t start out wanting to become a blogger. I was a tax lawyer at an international tax firm looking for a creative outlet and that outlet happened to take form of a blog, this blog. These last six months things took a little turn and it became an almost fulltime responsibility. People often underestimate how much time goes into blogging. It takes up a lot of time! There was an obvious lack of sleep at one point which is why I decided to take a break during my vacation (again, sorry for that).
Anyway, thanks for sticking with me. It has been a blast writing for you guys,
even especially in the wee hours at night and I hope it has been a pleasure for you as well. I am going to keep doing what I do but I would also love to take the blog to another level one day, to crank it up, to up the ante. I don’t know where this blog will be in the future. All I know is, there’s this drive again. A motor that started rolling on nothing but this high for life. And I can’t wait to explore this more with you guys.
