Packing a beauty bag for your travels is one of the things I usually put off until the very end. I find it hard to decide what to carry with me as I tend to only pack essentials. For my Hong Kong trip, I tried to focus my beauty bag on only the things I knew I would need. The air in Hong Kong is very humid so I knew I could leave my heavy moisturizers home, as well as my thicker foundations (I only packed a light BB cream in the end – coverage is the last thing on my mind in hot and humid weather conditions). Here’s what I packed in my beauty bag to Hong Kong.
1./ Lancôme Monsieur Big mascara & marker
One of the products I have been using heavily is the Lancôme Monsieur Big mascara and eye marker. A mascara is essential in every beauty bag and the Monsieur Big is a mascara that will give you the length and volume you need. With eyeliners, I usually keep it simple by using eyeshadow to line my eyes. But I knew I would be attending an important business date in Hong Kong so I wanted to pack an eyeliner with me that can create a strong cat-eye. The Monsieur Big eyeliner has a doe-tip that makes it easier to create any line or cat-eye shape (and it is a long-wear liner).
2./ Clinique + Jonathan Adler lid pop
If there’s a product in your beauty stash that you can use for multiple purposes, that’s one to go into your travel bag. I fell in love with the Clinique + Jonathan Adler lid pop in Cream pop recently. The eyeshadow (which has a gorgeous print stamped onto the product) is a creamy light beige/salmon eyeshadow. I pop this on my lids in the center and my inner eye corners. Once I’m done with my eyes, I go over the eyeshadow with a highlighter fan and highlight my cheekbones. The eyeshadow has a beautiful sheen that gives your look a subtle but very noticeable glow at the same time. It’s one of those products that you just have to know about (and you’re reading about it here!).
3./ Giorgio Armani Beauty Sì
I am kind of a sucker for fragrances. I have a perfume stash that is currently reaching outrageous heights. The latest favorite in my stash is Giorgio Armani’s Sì. It’s a perfume with notes of chypre, bergamot, mandarin oil, neroli, jasmin and amber. The perfume is elegant and very feminine. It’s a perfume that you could easily wear everyday. Not because it’s a subtle scent, but it is so beautifully sophisticated. Currently the only scent I’m wearing by day!
4./ Estée Lauder x Victoria Beckham eye ink
As a big contrast to the light eyeshadow from Clinique, I brought the Estée Lauder x Victoria Beckham eye ink with me. The eyeshadow is pitch black with a pearly and glittery finish. I haven’t worn this eyeshadow that often because I feel like this is one of those shades you want to save for occasions where you want to really wow the crowd. But so far every time I have worn it, it has been a success. I brought this with me to Hong Kong for a date night with friends. Use this with a wet brush and you get an intense dark shade. I applied this with a wet eyeliner brush to go on top of my Monsieur Big marker. The glitters give your line an extra dashing effect.
5./ Lancôme matte shaker
As you can see, I kept it quite simple in Hong Kong! The only thing to finish off my make up looks was a lip color. I am very picky when it comes to lipsticks or lip glosses. I often go for red tints and with reds, you want your lip colors to be silky smooth, moisturizing (definitely not products that dry out your lips) and pigmented as well. I packed my Lancôme matte shaker with me in the shade 186 Red. I was a fan already of Lancôme’s juicy shakers that were wildly popular last year. This year the matte shakers were introduced and I was beyond excited. There’s just something about matte lips that are sensual and sophisticated. And quite frankly, not many matte lip products are good. They tend to dry out your lips more often than not. The matte shaker so far is one of few matte products I have tried that have worked well on me. And the color is such a beautifully intense red!
