For the last part of our Vietnam trip we decided to go with a resort a little further away from the city center. We arrived at the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort, a resort located on Monkey Mountain. When we were led to our villa residence, we were told to at all times shut the doors and windows. As monkeys reside in the mountain forest. And they are known to come down sometimes in search of food. We were afraid we wouldn’t be able to see one ourselves but if you look closely, they are running around at the resort. Jumping from one tree to another, we saw a group of monkeys crossing the road in front of us. It was the cutest thing ever!
All villas are located on the mountain, overlooking the sea. The resort has four levels and it has a tram to take you up and down to each level (or you can take the stairs – which we never did because how often do resorts offer tram rides!).
Breakfast is served at Citron, the resort’s main restaurant. One of Citron’s features is its stunning balcony. It proved to be a challenge to be seated at one of the five balconies. It was quite popular among guests. You can’t make a reservation for the balcony seats so in the morning, you can even find guests lining up for the balcony! We saw an opening at 4pm (tip: avoid restaurant rush hours).
Tai chi class
Shuttle bus to Hoi An
For a fee, you can also book a Vietnamese lantern and hat making class and Vietnamese cooking class
The resort beach is a private beach on the Son Tra Peninsula bay. I don’t know about you guys but I could spend the entire afternoon with a book on the beach, listening to the sound of the waves and just dreaming away.
There are pools as well, one of which is an infinity pool, overlooking the sea. The infinity pool was quite a popular spot as well when we were there. The pool is located on top of Long bar (where they serve a killer Vietnamese Saigon coffee).
Our stay at the resort was the perfect way to wind down from our travels. We planned this at the tail of our trip especially for that reason and we couldn’t have picked a better resort for it!
