It’s exactly nine thirty in the morning when I arrive at 180 Strand. The streets are empty, post-apocalyptic almost and the only person on the street is a woman with a Louis Vuitton monogram shopper, standing in front of the Louis Vuitton exhibition space. She glances my way. I give her one of those nice-to-see-a-living-being-but-until-I’ve-had-my-morning-coffee-I’m-not-having-a-conversation-just-yet looks. You know those memes on the internet about how women are when they’re hungry or when it’s just too early in the morning? Guilty as charged. The woman comes my way and asks for a photograph. She hands me her camera and grabs my takeaway coffee. My coffee. I take a photo of her, standing in front of the giant Louis Vuitton Exhibition Series 3 letters with her monogram shopper in shot and my cup. She thanks me and gives me back my coffee. Somewhere in London, or elsewhere in the world, there’s a woman posing in front of the exhibition with my coffee on a photo. I’m already glad she didn’t take my shades. No man could dare witness the bags under my eyes that day.
Following Series 1 and Series 2, Series 3 invites visitors to discover Nicolas Ghesquière’s inspirations for his fourth ready-to-wear show as the Artistic Director for women’s collections at Louis Vuitton. At the exhibition you’ll find runway shows from this and previous seasons, a Louis Vuitton walk-in closet, a closer look at the craftsmanship of the pieces, a poster room and a display of iconic Louis Vuitton pieces. The exhibition is open to public from September 21st to October 18th 2015. Tickets are free and can be ordered here. Don’t forget to grab your poster and two stickers in the cafe!
