Nocturnal Animals was one of the films I was most looking forward to watching this year. I loved A Single Man, Tom Ford’s directorial debut in 2009. I thought that, whatever emotion he provoked in that film, he would do it again in his next. But Nocturnal Animals is an entirely different film. Beautiful in its own way. A love story, a thriller, revenge, losing loved ones, all set against an artsy backdrop and a dream cast of Amy Adams, Jake Gyllenhaal and Aaron Taylor-Johnson (with Michael Sheen and Armie Hammer in minor roles). Perhaps not a contender for Best Picture, but there has to be an Oscar for one of the leads at least!
