On my recent travels to Hong Kong, I fell in love with the Ritz-Carlton located in Hong Kong’s Kowloon.
One of the perks of doing what I do is having the privilege to stay in some of the amazing hotels in the world. I’ve come across quite a few, some of which I have featured here on the blog. Of course the luxury is easy to get used to, I’m not going to deny that! But at this point, what I look for most is a certain comfort. A warm ease that makes you feel like you’re right at home. A home away from home. And during my recent trip to Hong Kong, the Ritz-Carlton was just that.
What makes the Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong stand out in the first place is of course its towering height. Located in currently the tallest building in Hong Kong, my room was on the 114th floor. I’m a bit afraid of heights so looking down from my window, I did feel a bit uneasy. But what a grand view you’ve got from the hotel. You cannot find a better view in a Hong Kong hotel, I guarantee you. The breathtaking view (either city- or harbor side – both equally spectacular) makes you want to stare at the horizon every morning and wait for the sun to come up. At night, I tried to capture the glittering lights from across the water. For a photographer, it’s a dream to stay in a room that gives you all day access to the most dreamy view that Hong Kong has to offer.
Two Michelin-star restaurant Tin Lung Heen
A hotel is only a home when you feel like you don’t have to leave the territory. At the Ritz-Carlton, the hotel’s dining options and spa facilities will make you want to sit back and relax inside the hotel all day. Don’t though – Hong Kong has so much to offer! But on the occasion you’re in Hong Kong during a heavy rain period (which was the case for me), do take advantage of the hotel’s marvelous facilities. Start your morning with breakfast served at the Club Lounge. Head to the gym for a quick morning exercise session. Get ready for lunch at the two Michelin-starred Tin Lung Heen, where chefs Paul Lau Ping Lui and Hang Wu prepare the most amazing dishes (a milk pudding with black truffle – one of the best desserts featuring truffle I reckon!) for you. After lunch, head down to shopping mall Elements to shop away all the calories! Head back to the hotel for their excellent afternoon tea served at the Club Lounge, before making your way to the swimming pool. Here you’ll spend your evening swimming in the clouds (literally). At night, even if you’re by yourself, go up to Ozone, the hotel’s exclusive bar on the top level – and enjoy the fact that you are in Hong Kong (with the best view possible)!
