If I could live anywhere in LA, it’d probably be in Silverlake. It has the coolest coffee bars, shops and restaurants.

And one of our favorite places in LA was Sawyer. It’s strange how the restaurant reminded me so much of how restaurants in Amsterdam are. The hip and modern interior, the beautiful bar,.. the loveliest dishes. And a killer vibe!

We stopped by for brunch. After having way too much cocktails all week, we decided to start with juices and an avocado toast. Can you ever go wrong with avocado on toast? (The answer is no, by the way.) We asked the waitress for her recommendation and she advised us to go for the chicken and waffles. The dish is served with a cilantro corn salad and a maple glaze. The table next to us kept eyeing our plate. I don’t blame them – this is definitely a dish you eat with your eyes first! As Dutchies, we’re not too familiar with the concept but hey, if you love chicken and you love waffles, why not put the two together!

We order the shrimp tacos as well. I loved the lightly fried shrimp and pickled red onions. This is a taco you want to have on a Friday in the summer on the terrace, with a cocktail! Of course I also had to have fries. When you can, always have fries.
