March 2018

It has been long since I last did a beauty post. The previous beauty post must have been from December. Shame on me for keeping you from all of the products I’ve been trying out (because trying I have – and I’ve been loving a quite a few!). There’s no explanation for my absence really. Other than the cold, the many projects I’ve been working on aside from the blog and – as always – my continuous binge watching (all hail the Netflix gods).

But since it is March already (and I couldn’t bear the thought of not blogging for a quarter of a year – because that’s the maximum really!) and there’s loads of new beauty products I’ve been trying, why not start right away. Here’s what’s new for spring beauty this year!

1. Jo Malone – English Oak & Hazelnut

Not necessarily a scent you’d normally wear for spring. It’s a fragrance that is slightly on the spicier side. It’s seductive, it’s feminine. To me, this is a powerful scent that got me through the depressing winter season and made me long for the coming of spring. Spring to me is a season of new challenges, motivation and basically just reinventing yourself. Which is why I think this is the perfect scent for now.

2. Chanel Kabuki brush

I change my brushes every once in a while. Some brands are definitely good for a few years but I find that with most brands, you have to switch for a new set occasionally to get the best out of the brushes. After all, brushes don’t last forever. Bristles lose their softness or hold after a while. I got hold of the Chanel Kabuki brush and I’ve been using the brush for my setting powders. Its soft bristles are like a soft breeze on my skin every morning! The brush has the classic Chanel logo on the brush top – very sophisticated!

3. NARS Wanted Palette

A product I’ve been obsessing over these last few months, is the Narsissist Wanted eyeshadow palette. When I first saw this palette at a NARS event, I was sold by the utterly stunning golden colours of the palette. The golden hues, the warm tangerine tones, neutral browns, fierce auburn powders. I’ve exhausted the palette already. This one definitely goes in the hall of fame of best eyeshadow palettes.

4. Lancôme Teint Idole Concealer

With the long days I’ve been working lately, dark circles have become somewhat of a daily struggle again. And the thing with concealers is, you have to find the right shade that brightens your dark circles, but not go so far as to color or actually lighten your skin tone. And – it has to be creamy! I’ve been using the Lancôme concealer recently to cover up any darkness before I head out every morning. I love the soft texture and it instantly gives your face a little wake up call. An essential if you ask me!

5. NARS Glow Highlighter

I can’t remember the time when highlighters weren’t a thing yet. Nowadays I won’t leave the house without a golden sheen on my cheekbones. And the highlighter that makes that happen, is the NARS x Man Ray glow highlighter. This highlighter has the perfect soft glow in a luscious golden tone. Apply it with a highlighter brush on the cheekbones and the middle part of your eyelid for a bright pop every day. One of my favourite products at the moment!

6. Lancôme Blush

Last but not least – you cannot start spring without a pop of colour on the cheeks. I always try to keep it less saturated, as I don’t like building up too much product on my face (and with a bronzer and highlighter – a limit is reached fast enough). But for a natural flushed look, I love this Lancôme blush in Rose Sable. It’s a natural warm tone, just perfect for a subtle flush.
