Grundy on freeze motion photography: “Freeze-motion imagery is back on trend in the advertising world. This is a great way to injecting explosive energy into still life photography. All ads aim to grab your attention but, in our over-saturated media environment, this is increasingly difficult to achieve. Brands need simple but striking imagery to stand out from the crowd. To achieve this many advertisers and agencies are using freeze motion photography; breathing life into what could otherwise be rather dry and ordinary product shots.”
In his series Transient Sculptures, Grundy explores his contemporary side. With fabrics dancing in the air, captured in freeze motion, Grundy has created a stunning photographic and artistic masterpiece. The wavy fabrics move about in the air but stand still as a moment in time. There’s movement and tranquility at the same time. What’s even more intriguing about the series, is that there’s something quite visceral in seeing the moving metallic and satin-like fabrics contrast against the ordinary and classic landscapes as a backdrop. It’s visually tantalising and we can’t stop looking at it.
