Style is a very personal thing. It is a way of expressing yourself and a way of making you feel more ‘you’.
Every woman has experimented with fashion at different stages in her life. And finding my personal style certainly didn’t come without embarrassment. I had my leggings and hair bands period in elementary school and my platform shoes and punk-style Spice Girl buns in secondary school. As if secondary school wasn’t awkward enough. At university I finally found the look that has stuck with me ever since. Feminine, edgy, structures, shapes – black. For the first time I got in touch with my feminine side and before I knew it pencil skirts, romantic Victorian blouses and brown leather boots were an essential part of my closet.
Experimenting with fashion stopped briefly when I started working as a lawyer. But what that period brought me was an even more sleek and edgy look.
Your personal style doesn’t stop, it evolves. It can go from fun and quirky to sexy and smart. You can find love in the perfect navy water-resistent trench coat (which certainly comes in handy in London), a simple T-shirt that says Nerd or a bright green screen ensemble à la The Queen (respect to anyone who has the balls to wear green screen green).
Whatever you’re wearing, rock it. The world is your catwalk and all you have to do, is own it.
How To Rock Your Runway
1. Shoes Choose your shoes wisely. You may be able to pull off the fabulous model look while falling over the tiles on Dam Square (damn those tiles) but you’ll look even more stunning in shoes that make you fly.
2. Apparel Dress up in apparel that makes you feel comfortable and most ‘you’. Fashion is a art form that is very personal so don’t mind what the rest of the world thinks – it’s all about you.
3. Enjoy Unless your name is Cara Delevingne, you’re not going to pull off any look with an angry face. Loosen up, breathe in and out and feel the vibe. This is your moment.
Now go strut those streets – off you go.
